These cheese and bacon-scented hair products might be the worst bathroom idea ever

Image: Einstein Noah Restaurant Group

Do you love bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches? Do you love them so much you want to smell like one? Yeah... neither do I.

Einstein Bros. is selling a limited supply of Cheesy Shampoo and Wakin' Bacon Condition, and boy do they reeeeeek. Sadly, they're already sold out.

Of course this is just promo for a sandwich.

"Einstein Bros. Bagels wants to awaken consumers’ morning routines with something totally unexpected that will get them excited about breakfast and our delicious Cheesy Wakin’ Bacon sandwich," SVP of Marketing, Product, and Innovation Kerry Coyne wrote in a press release

I can't even fathom a group of people sitting in a board room agreeing on cheese shampoo as the perfect promotional product.

We at Mashable were too scared to actually use these products on ourselves, but after a smell test, we decided Cheesy Shampoo smells like the salt movie theaters use on their popcorn and Wakin' Bacon Conditioner smells like a generic candle covered in a half-inch layer of dust.

I thought the worst thing someone could use in the shower was banana-scented Minion 3-in-1 Body Wash, but Einstein Bros. just topped that.

Here Is President Donald Trump’s Outrageous McDonald’s Order

President Donald Trump’s relationship with food and drink has been received as well as his relationship with North Korea.

Over the years, the Commander-in-Chief has been mercilessly mocked after being involved in multiple culinary faux-pas, including his attempt to make his Trump Steaks a thing:

Trump then further embarrassed himself when it was revealed at a BLT Steakhouse in Washington DC that he likes his steak cooked well-done with a side of tomato ketchup, which I think we can all agree is just blasphemy and tediously mundane.

In fact, some people on Twitter were outraged:

Then there was his attempt to drink a bottle of water using two hands, which many likened to that of a toddler:

And then there’s there’s the small matter of the pizza they serve in Trump Tower, which left Italians all over the world screaming in pain over the $11.50 margarita abomination:

However, now the businessman-turned-president has come under fire after his favorite McDonald’s order has left people pointing out his tasteless hypocrisy.

Just like President Donald Trump, McDonald’s has divided the opinion of many nations across the globe since its founding in 1940 by the McDonald brothers, Richard and Maurice. Some people are, as the chain’s slogan suggests, “lovin’ it”, whereas many others believe it a corporate plague that has played a huge part in the obesity epidemic that has led to the US becoming the “fattest country in the world”.

After countless documentaries and news bulletins, we’re now all extremely aware of the health implications McDonald’s menu can have on our bodies, but if enjoyed once-in-a-while as part of a healthy lifestyle, who can resist a cheeky Big Mac?

And one of McDonald’s biggest fans is 71-year-old President Trump, who has always been very vocal in his love for the fast-food giant.

Not only has he starred in television commercials for the chain, but Trump’s former body-man, Keith Schiller, revealed that he reportedly asked the kitchen staff to make him McDonald’s burgers.

Yes, Trump loved McDonald’s so much he wanted one in his own house! According to Politico, the kitchen staff down the hall from the Oval Office were asked to recreate the chain’s famous quarter pounders, and also the McDonald’s world famous dessert, the apple pie.

However, the public has always been left in the dark about how much McDonald’s the president consumes in one sitting, and what his favorite burgers are. Until now…

Thanks to the upcoming book Let Trump Be Trump, written by the President’sformer campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and former aide David Bossie, his extraordinary appetite for the fast food has been revealed.

Extracts from the book were released in advance to the Washington Post where it is has been revealed that during the campaign trail, the timing of Trump’s meals were executed with military-like precision. The authors claim:

“The orchestrating and timing of Mr. Trump’s meals was as important as any other aspect of his march to the Presidency.”

The pages also reveal the monstrous quantity the President would eat during his presidential campaign. Where most people are satisfied with one sandwich from Maccy D’s, Trump demolished FOUR in one serving.

In just one sitting from the fast-food giants, Trump devoured TWO Big Macs, TWO Fillet-O-Fish and one chocolate malted Shake.

Big appetite.

In fact, according to McDonald’s official nutritional guide, this equates to a staggering over 1,900 calories! Considering the fact the recommended daily allowance for a man is 2,500, we hope Trump skipped breakfast and had a vegetable medley for dinner.

Following the revelation, many people have been quick to point out the hypocrisy of President Trump, unearthing his interview on The Dr. Oz Show where he proclaimed:

“When you’re running for president, I think you have an obligation to be healthy. I just don’t think you can do the work if you’re not healthy. I don’t think you can represent the country properly if you’re not a healthy person.”

Now, do you think two Big Macs, two Fillet-O-Fish and a Shake is the meal option of a “healthy” 71-year-old man? Neither do we…

Finally, if you, like our President, can’t get enough of the “Golden Arches”, check out these amazing facts (some may be a little hard to swallow)…

Peter Munk, Entrepreneur Who Founded Barrick Gold, Dies at 90

  • He spent three decades expanding company into a global giant
  • Hungarian-born Munk pledged bulk of fortune to philanthropy

Peter Munk, the Canadian immigrant who founded Barrick Gold Corp. in the early 1980s and transformed it from a small-scale operation into a global empire, has died. He was 90.

He died Wednesday in Toronto, according to a company statement. No cause was given.

A serial entrepreneur, Munk’s ventures ranged from high-end electronics to real estate. But it was as founder of Toronto-based Barrick, the world’s largest gold producer, that he amassed most of his wealth, the bulk of which he pledged would go to charities after his death.

“He was a unique fellow, probably the most unforgettable guy I knew,” former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney said Wednesday by phone. “He was a genuine leader; a visionary who built great companies and then, at the height of his wealth and authority, proceeded to distribute most of it.”

Born in Budapest on Nov. 8, 1927, to Lajos Munk and Katharina Adler, Munk fled Nazi-occupied Hungary in 1944 with his father’s family. His mother, who left the marriage when Peter was 4 and had survived the Auschwitz concentration camp, committed suicide in 1988.

Odd Jobs

In 1948, Munk’s father sent him from an internment camp in Switzerland to live in Canada with an uncle. In a 1998 interview, Peter Munk said he initially dreaded the move. “But I was determined to succeed,” Munk said. “I probably had enough misguided self-confidence to think I could do it in Canada even though I couldn’t speak the language and didn’t have any contacts.”

Munk would later describe his first years in Canada as a kind of love affair. After the deprivation of postwar Europe, food was abundant and friends welcomed him into their homes with open fridges. He worked a series of odd jobs -- selling Christmas trees, harvesting tobacco, clearing bush -- and graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in electrical engineering in 1952.

‘Half Full’

Munk’s account of his childhood and early years in Canada reflected an optimism that remained throughout his life, according to his daughter, Nina Munk, a New York-based journalist. “For my father, the glass is always half full,” she said in a July 2017 interview.

It was a quality that would be tested by the shifts in fortune that are the hallmark of an entrepreneur’s life. Nina was born in 1967, the year Munk’s first business, Clairtone Sound Corp., collapsed. Her father remembered it as “the worst year of his life,” according to her 2008 book about the venture, “The Art of Clairtone.”

For almost a decade Clairtone’s mid-century Danish-inspired stereos were purchased by celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Hugh Hefner and jazz musician Oscar Peterson. But cost overruns, a too-early foray into color television and an ill-fated shift of operations to Nova Scotia contributed to steep losses in the late 1960s. Munk was ejected from management in 1968 and later sued for insider trading. His first big success was also his most humiliating failure.

Living Well

At the same time, his first marriage, to Linda Gutterson, fell apart. In 1969 she moved to Switzerland with Nina and her older brother, Anthony. Munk would later tell Nina he spent more money on Anthony’s school tuition than he earned that year. In fact, Munk’s lifestyle changed little over the years: regardless of how business was doing, he always wore bespoke Italian suits, monogrammed Charvet shirts and Borsalino hats, Nina recalled, while priding himself on avoiding the decadence of the mega-rich.

“We always lived well,” Nina said. “To my father, deals that went south, share prices that collapsed, companies that went bust were merely blips on the path to success. He never doubted he would make it all back, and then some. So why engage in belt-tightening?”

In 1970, Munk decamped to London where he and business partner David Gilmour started their next venture, developing a 7,000-acre resort in Fiji and 50 hotels throughout the Pacific Basin.

‘Snotty Guys’

The audacity of the venture, coming on the heels of the Clairtone failure, suggests more than optimism was at play. Canadian author Peter C. Newman wrote there were three great motivators in Munk’s life: restitution, redemption and revenge. “It was about giving the finger to all those snotty guys from Upper Canada College and Harvard’s business school who never waved goodbye as he departed for his exile in the South Pacific after the Clairtone fiasco,” according to Newman’s 2014 article in Maclean’s, a Canadian publication.

In 1979, Munk returned to Canada and in 1981 he sold Southern Pacific Properties, walking away with about $100 million. A year earlier he had started Barrick Petroleum, an oil and gas exploration company, but soon shifted to gold. Renamed Barrick Resources, the company went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange in 1983. Three years later, Munk purchased a small Nevada gold mine called Goldstrike for $62 million. The company’s geologists discovered new gold deposits at the site, which became one of the world’s richest gold mines.

Bre-X Hoax

Munk’s other deals included amassing a 43 percent stake in Trizec Corp. in 1994 as the real-estate developer sought protection from debt holders. In 2006 Brookfield Properties Corp. and buyout firm Blackstone Group LP acquired the firm for $8.9 billion. In 2007, he bought a former Soviet-era naval base in Montenegro, transforming it into a five-star resort and yacht marina on the Adriatic.

Occasionally, his best deals were the ones that got away. In 1997, Barrick lost a bid for control of Bre-X Minerals Ltd. and its Busand gold deposit in Indonesia. Bre-X soared to a market value of C$6 billion ($4.6 billion) before declaring bankruptcy after claims of huge reserves in Indonesia were found to be a hoax.

Unscathed, Barrick expanded during a decade-long upturn in gold prices, becoming the world’s biggest producer with the acquisition of Placer Dome Inc. in 2006 for about $10 billion, including debt, a record in the industry.

‘The Biggest’

“The ultimate goal is to be the biggest,” Munk said at a May 2011 Bloomberg summit. “Why wouldn’t it be? Why would you be happy with halfway?”

Combining Barrick with rival Newmont Mining Corp. would have secured that goal; the latest talks failed in 2014, the same year Munk stepped down as Barrick’s chairman at age 86. Today, Barrick maintains only a slim lead on Newmont in terms of production and the latter’s market capitalization is higher than Barrick’s.

Upon retiring in 2014 at age 86, Munk handed control to John Thornton and vowed to remain involved in the company. “You can take maybe Munk out of Barrick, you cannot take Barrick out of Munk,” he said at an annual shareholders meeting.

A foundation established with his second wife, Melanie Bosanquet, whom he married in 1973, serves a vehicle for the bulk of his philanthropy. Donations, encompassing personal ones by Munk, include more than $175 million to the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and the University Health Network where it is housed; about $40 million to the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs; and $43 million to the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.

Munk had five children: Anthony, Nina, Marc-David, Natalie and Cheyne. Linda Gutterson died in 2013.

Orrin Hatch: This is nothing short of a public health emergency

(CNN)Think of 10 women who are close to you, be they mothers, sisters, daughters or friends. Odds are that at least one of these loved ones has a disease that most people have never heard of: endometriosis. According to the Journal of Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Disorders, this life-altering illness is startlingly prevalent, with approximately 176 million people impacted worldwide.

Women who suffer from endometriosis can experience excruciating periods, acute inflammation, and myriad other painful symptoms. These symptoms result from a tissue similar to the lining of the uterus growing in other parts of the body. Each year, this disease puts the lives of millions on hold, forcing adult women to miss work and young girls to forgo sports, extracurricular activities, and even weeks of school.
The widespread prevalence of endometriosis — and the lack of any long-term treatment options — is nothing short of a public health emergency.
I have witnessed firsthand the crippling effects of endometriosis on my granddaughter Emily. Some time ago, I traveled to Massachusetts to see Emily's family when suddenly she had to lie down because of a gut-wrenching pain. So severe were Emily's symptoms that she was bedridden for the entire day. She was only 13 at the time. Her pain persisted for weeks, and it seemed there was almost nothing we could do to help her.
To see a girl who had been so active and vivacious suffer so much at such a young age was almost too much for her grandpa to bear. It was heartrending to see her laid low by an illness that we couldn't understand, much less identify. She used to play sports and join us on long family walks, but she now retreated to her room to wait out the pain.
Emily's symptoms worsened in the weeks that followed, causing her to miss almost three months of school. At times, she could not even walk. It took 18 months, dozens of hospital visits, and nine different doctors just to diagnose Emily with endometriosis. And we were the lucky ones. According to the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, it takes most endometriosis patients up to 10 years to receive a proper diagnosis.
When Emily, who is now 21, was finally diagnosed, we quickly set to work educating ourselves on the nature of this illness. In short time, we learned that endometriosis is the most common, devastating disease that most people have never even heard of. Now with the disease under control after excision surgery and continuing multidisciplinary treatment, Emily is much improved and advocating for endometriosis awareness among her peers.
Sadly, the younger a woman is at the onset of her symptoms, the longer it can take for her to receive the right diagnosis. What starts as pelvic pain often is not diagnosed as endometriosis until several years later. Symptoms often start early in life, but are frequently ignored by caregivers, patients and practitioners alike.
Endometriosis not only takes a physical toll on patients but a social toll as well. It prevents millions of women from fully engaging in work, relationships, sports and school — the very activities that form the basis of meaningful human interaction.
Tragically, endometriosis is also one of the leading causes of infertility. Approximately 50% of women with unexplained infertility have endometriosis. And of the 600,000 hysterectomies performed in the United States each year, endometriosis is the second most commonly cited reason, according to the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health. Yet endometriosis specialists like Iris Kerin Orbuch and others say that hysterectomies are not the best course of treatment, because the procedure is not a "cure."
The good news is, we are not powerless in the face of this disease. Each of us can take meaningful steps to educate ourselves on the nature of endometriosis and then encourage awareness in our communities. Better education and greater awareness will shorten the amount of time it takes for girls and women to receive the correct diagnosis. And as awareness increases, it will also become easier to devote more time and resources to researching a cure.

Join us on Twitter and Facebook

Start a conversation about endometriosis today with the women and girls you love. Empower them with the information they need to take a stand against all the misinformation around this disease and regain control of their health. Changing the status quo around endometriosis starts with each of us, and the time for action is now.
Unless we act now, our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends will continue to suffer. Let's work together as one, so we can drive the conversations, medical practices, and research priorities that will help deliver a better future for our loved ones, free from the pain and suffering of endometriosis.
An earlier version of the editor's note to this article incorrectly stated that Emily Hatch is featured in the film "Endo What."
