AJ Weir was never quite happy with her face. The 44-year-old from the United Kingdom felt that her high cheekbones made her face look “harsh” and “angry.” She wanted more round, cherubic features.

The mother always found dimples to be charming and adorable. AJ decided to invest $1,628 in cosmetic dimple surgery.

For a long time, I wanted dimples. I dont know what it is exactly, but I think they are really cute,” she said. If somebody has dimples, I will try to stick my finger in their face. Its really weird, but I just love them. I see them as a sign of being cute.

AJ searched for dimple surgery for 10 years until it became available in her country. The procedure was around 90 minutes long, and AJ was awake for it the entire time. Essentially, doctors punched holes into her cheeks to remove a bit of skin and to create the indentation.

For a lot of people, this seems like a really stupid cosmetic procedure and it seems insane to start messing about with your own face,” she said. “Some people say you should just be happy with what youve got and I get that, but this was something I wanted to do.

AJ admitted that even her family thinks the surgery was excessive.

Most people say Im absolutely bonkers to have had it done. I went back to work the next day and I did get some funny looks,” she said. My husband and my son think Im absolutely bonkers, and I can understand that.”

Nevertheless, AJ says it’s something she simply wanted for herself. She loves her new look.

“I can agree that it’s unnecessary to an extent its not going to make me more successful, but it was just something that I wanted,” she said.
