South Carolina single mother Christina Knaack earned a massive tax return of $5,400 this year. Christina doesn’t have a high-paying job in fact, she works a minimum-wage job.
Christina posted her check on Facebook and told everyone exactly what shewasn’t doing with it.The mother was not buying her kids expensive sneakers or devices.
Instead of buying my kids the latest Jordans or fancy electronics, I paid my rent for the YEAR, Christina wrote. Im a single mom and I do it all by myself on a minimum-wage job. I know that a roof over my kids head is whats important.
The mother’s rent is $450 per month, which is why she would rather remove that financial burden from the equation.
My kids dont want for anything because my priorities are straight, she said. And this also means I will have that extra $450 a month to do things with my kids.
The average tax refund was $2,860 last year, according to GoBankingRates. Around 40 percent of users surveyed by the company said they would put it in savings, while 38 percent would use it to pay off debt.
Christina’s Facebook post went viral, with people praising the mother for her financial responsibility. She says she didn’t post it for attention, but was merely proud of her decision.
I didnt share this for attention from the world. I just shared my accomplishments with people I know, Christina said. “As long as my post has inspired people, Im happy with that.
