Nineteen-year-old Derrick Taylor works very hard: the Alabama teen supports and cares for his sick mother and siblings with his job with UPS, which earns him just shy of $12 per hour.
With his salary and responsibilities, Derrick doesn’t earn enough to be able to afford a car to get to and from work. As a result, he’s had to walk 10 miles a day. He did it without complaint.
Co-workers offered to give him rides or to support him in any way they car, but the teen always refuses, seeing the value in hard work.
But his dedication and need didn’t go unnoticed by co-workers. When he refused their offers, they came up with a bigger and better way to help him: together, they pooled $1,100 to buy him a car!
In the clip below, you can see the moment Derrick’s colleagues offer him his new ride. The young man, moved by the generosity of his friends, breaks down when one hands him the keys.
