USA: Detroit zoo throws Valentine's Day celebration for animal couples

A Valentine's Day-themed event was held for animal couples at the Detroit Zoo in the suburb of Royal Oak on Wednesday.

Penguins, Camels, Polar bears, Bush dogs and Wolves featured in the romantic-themed event, labelled 'Heart Fest.' The event saw zoo workers giving heart-shaped pinatas to wolves and icy treats to penguins and polar bears, in an effort to ensure that their animal habitats are appropriately complex and changing.

The Detroit zoo will also be holding an adults-only 'Love Gone Wild' event on Valentine's Day, February 14, offering a close-up look at the mating habits of zoo animals.
