The Mountain Shared A Photo Of His Girlfriend And People Can’t Believe The Size Difference

Being a tiny lady isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Jars are almost impossible to open without assistance, we can pretty much forget about attempting to reach the top shelf in our cupboard without a ladder, and sometimes we’ve got no option but to shop in the kid’s department.

Straight women, generally, prefer to be with tall men, but when you’re fun-sized, there’s absolutely no need for your Tinder matches to point out the fact that they’re not hobbits. If anything, a shorter partner is preferred because we don’t want to look even smaller than we are. But some people don’t let size get in the way of true love and The Mountain from Game of Thrones and his girlfriend are proof.

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson landed the role because of his incredible size and physique. Prior to starring on the hit show, 29-year-old Icelandic actor has had a successful career playing basketball and as a strongman. He even came sixth in the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2011.

Björnsson is a staggering 6-foot-9-inches tall, and he weighs an impressive 400lbs. It’s no wonder that he landed the role of The Mountain – which was his first acting job, although he was subsequently cast in the 2017 movie Kickboxer: Retaliation. The 29-year-old is the third person to play The Mountain on Game of Thrones. The character was first played by 7-foot tall former professional wrestler Conan Stevens, and then by the 7-foot-1-inch Ian Whye, who also happened to be a former basketball player. Björnsson might be the smallest man to play The Mountain, but he hilariously towers over his pint-sized girlfriend Kelsey Henson. The two met by chance in September of this year in Earls Kitchen + Bar in Alberta when Kelsey, recognizing Björnsson from Game of Thrones, asked to take a picture with the actor and the rest is, well, Instagram history. “Met Hafþór, AKA The Mountain, from Game of Thrones!!” an excited Henson captioned their first picture together. The pair clearly hit it off, and it wasn’t long before Björnsson decided to take his fan-turned-girlfriend to his native Iceland. “I had the greatest time in Iceland this past week, met some awesome people and had some great experiences! Thank you to @thorbjornsson for having me and introducing me to Iceland,” Henson wrote on Instagram. Björnsson’s incredible size is particularly apparent in this picture that Henson posted from their trip to Spain. The size difference between their hands is absolutely jaw-dropping! In fact, one Instagram user pointed out that Björnsson’s hand is bigger than Henson’s head. Henson states on her Instagram account (@kelc33) that she is a fitness fanatic who is currently studying Occupational Health & Safety at college. She’s pictured below training her biceps with a very appropriate t-shirt on – although a fight between her and Björnsson wouldn’t be very advisable! Their startling height difference is hilarious and thankfully Henson sees the funny side of it too. When asked on Instagram how she is able to kiss her considerably taller boyfriend, she replied, “He bends, I tiptoe. Or just I say ‘screw it, pick me up!'” Björnsson, however, is not the only Game of Thrones star to recently hit the headlines because of something eye-popping about his relationship. After a whirlwind, year-long romance Game of Thrones actress 21-year-old Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, announced that she was engaged to 28-year-old singer Joe Jonas in October of this year, with Jonas describing Turner as the “love of his life”. Rumors of their relationship began to circulate in November of last year when Jonas was spotted with his arm around Turner at the MTV EMAs. The pair announced their engagement on Instagram with Turner posting a photograph of her dazzling ring which was captioned, “I said yes.” But it turns out that people simply can’t stop staring at Turner’s giant rock, and she was recently photographed in New York after a gym session wearing it. It’s been estimated that the ring cost between $25,000 and $30,000. Many people were surprised when Turner and Jonas announced their engagement, however, apparently even Turner herself was not expecting Jonas to pop the question!
