It was a ride to a doctor’s checkup that Jose Rodriguez and Georgeanna Miera would never forget.
The couple was in bumper to bumper traffic along I-25 in New Mexico, when their little boy, Jose, started choking out of nowhere. The two of them panicked and pulled over to the side of the highway, hoping someone wouldsee their distress and stop to help them.
In the video below, posted on February 20, 2017, Georgeanna recalls, “I had to unbuckle him, had dad pull over and get him out of the car and actually pat him on his back and try to get the object out, but it wasn’t happening. He was already blue.”
Car after car passed the frantic couple by, leaving them struggling and afraid for their choking baby. Suddenly, an EMT van swooped over behind them.
Amy Chapek and Lynn Floreswere on their way back from a call in their usual district, when they spotted something very wrong happening on the side of the highway. When they hopped out, they were startled by what they saw, but acted instantly.
Amy explains, “I saw dad getting out with his 10-month-old and started doing black blows on the baby and we immediately knew something was wrong, so we just pulled over to help and they handed us over a blue, limp baby.”
The two women gavethe choking baby more black blows and soon enough, the object flew out of his mouth and he began to scream. Nobody was able to figure out what the devious item was, but all that mattered was that Jose Jr. was safe, alive, and breathing again.
Jose says, “I see them as my angels, or my son’s angels ’cause like they were saying, nobody would stop. Nobody, except for them and I’m really thankful.” He looks down at his son and continues, “I wouldn’t have this little guy today if it wasn’t for them.”
